Mundesley is a friendly village with a variety of tea rooms, cafe’s, pubs and shops.
People of all ages enjoy the award winning lifeguard patrolled beach (summer), and whether you
want to swim, surf, walk, picnic or just relax in a deckchair, its a lovely way to spend some of your
holiday.
You can enjoy a relaxing break, breathing in the wonderful sea air. (Visitors say they usually can’t
stay awake past 9 p.m. as the wonderful sea air is so refreshing and calming)! It’s so easy to fall in
love with this beautiful seaside retreat.
There are many pretty villages to visit along the North Norfolk coast and slightly inland, including
Burnham Market, Cley, Holt, Letheringsett, Salthouse, Stiffkey, Cromer, Fakenham, Sheringham,
Wells-on-Sea, Cley and Blakeney.
The historic village of Mundesley was listed in the Doomsday Book nearly a thousand years ago
under the name of Muleslai. Today it is a busy small coastal village with much to offer during your
stay at the cottage.
Mundesley beach proudly flies the Blue Flag, an international award for clean beaches.
The long stretches of sand are popular with day trippers, holiday makers and locals.
At low tide, shallow pools are left on the beach - which are ideal for younger children.
During the Summer months, the main part of the beach is lifeguard patrolled.
Historically, the sea has provided Mundesley with a fishing industry, and you can still
see local fisherman putting to sea today and the old fishermen’s Norfolk cottages.
Beach fishing is popular with bass, cod, whiting and flounder the most sought after catches.
Mundesley has a variety of shops providing almost everything you could need whilst staying
at Fireman’s Cottage including:Post Office, Florist, Chemist, Greengrocer, Ladies Wear, Mens Wear,
Paintings/Gifts, Fish/Chips and Spar which has an off-licence and hires dvd’s/games.
Fireman’s Cottage is in the heart of the village, so the shops and beach are very convenient.
A short walk around Mundesley will reveal several tea rooms, fish/chip shop and a Chinese
takeaway. Food is also served at most of the pubs and hotels in the village. The Kingfisher Cafe in
Walcott is a lovely clean, friendly cafe with good food and wonderful sea views.
Mundesley has an excellent 9 hole Golf Course and a Driving Range which welcomes visitors. For

There are lots of ‘quiet’ lanes for walking/cycling. Weavers Way is an old railway track that is
naturally flat and ideal for safe cycling and walking. Part of it runs adjacent to Pigney’s Wood which
is a beautiful natural park for walking and picnics. Bacton Woods also has miles of trails for cycling
and walking.
